Gears on hats! Gears as hats! Gears as monocles!
Gears for shoes! Gears for pneumatic tubes, somehow!
Gears of war! Gears of peace! Gears of love! Gears of hate!
Gears for gears, gears for tears, gears for fears.
Save your cheers, there's more gears. Gears earn leers, gears spill beers.
Gears are near! Gears are far! Brass gears spill tar!
Gears where you want them! Gears where you don't want them!
(Gears on your gear, ouch.)
Gears for chairs, gears for hairs, why not!?
Gears lead to gears that connect to gears! Gears turning gears!
Gears for bakers, gears for millers, gears for clockmakers, gears for killers?
Gears for phones, gears for moans, gears smelting gears, gears grinding stones!
Gears catching fingers, gears tearing clothes, gears ripping flesh, gears crushing bone.
Gears up and down and all around. Never too many gears!
Gears in words, gears in art. Gears on swords, gears for parts.
Steampunk is easy: just add gears!

This started out as a comment on a steampunk cat and stemmed from me walking through a bookstore and seeing the science fiction section flooded with gears and goggles and top hats and high boots...

I'm no poet, I just wanted to vent a little frustration. If it sounds like Dr. Seuss, you've discovered my biggest influence on poetry.
